Our fun weekend with Aunt Cheryl, pictures of Micah, Grandma's Birthday
Sunday was Grandma's birthday! Lea and Jonah and Mommy set up a treasure hunt for Grandma to find her present - a much-needed car charger for her cell phone.

Baby Micah
I called Aleena's mom, let her know we were bringing Lea and Jonah, and started hauling their sleepy little bodies to the car. After they were in the car, Lea stoped me while I was making another trip with luggage to ask me, "Is mommy's belly big enough to have the baby?", she followed that with "is it March time yet?" So cute. After dropping the kids off and checking into labor and delivery, we tried to will Aleena's labor to pick up. By 1:00pm, her contractions were actually diminishing. The risk of infection after your bag of water is broken are greater the longer delivery takes, so we decided to help Aleena out. Aleena had read that one way was to apply olive oil to her nipples and twist them as hard as she could stand...we chose to have Petosin administered in an IV instead. By about 4:30 pm the contractions were strong enough to go for an epidural. After it was administered, we thought Aleena might take a little nap in preparation for "pushing time" so I ran home and got some things I forgot. I got a call from Aleena as I pulled back into the hospital parking lot telling me it was time. I took my place holding Aleena's left leg for her as it was pretty much limp from the epidural. After 45 minutes of hard, exhausting and a bit confusing pushing, little Micah popped out. The confusion came, from my point of view, from the fact that although the epidural made Aleena perfectly comfortable, she could not feel when to push, and the machine that was supposed to tell us she was contracting wasn't working, so it was a little bit of a guessing game. Micah's heart rate showed some distress through delivery. He came out with the cord tight around his neck. Despite this, he scored perfect 10's on his apgar tests. Micah is 7 pounds, 15 onces and 20 inches long. We love him dearly and are very excited. Aleena is the best babymaker in the world, albeit a very sore one. She is doing very well, and may come home with Micah tonight.

Carbonara Pizza Recipe
Well, here is the pizza recipe that I used! I substituted bacon for pancetta and I added sliced tomatoes on top too and I did make the pizza dough from scratch and that recipe will come soon. Enjoy!
Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner Carbonara Pizza
from Rachel Rayingredients
1 refrigerated pizza dough (recommended brand Pillsbury), or one from your favorite pizza joint
Cornmeal, for sprinkling on pizza pan
Extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO), for drizzling
1/4 pound pancetta, chopped
1 cup ricotta cheese
1/4 cup (a generous handful) grated Romano or Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, whatever you have in the fridge
1 large clove garlic, grated
Black pepper
2 large egg yolks, beaten
1 1/2 to 2 cups shredded provolone cheese
A handful of flat-leaf parsley, chopped
preparation
Preheat oven to 450°F.
Roll out dough into a large, thin, round or rectangular shape. Scatter a little cornmeal on the pizza pan or baking sheet before placing rolled-out dough on it.
Drizzle dough with EVOO and prick it with fork tines in a few places.
Place in oven and partially bake for 7-8 minutes.
Drizzle EVOO in a small skillet and heat over medium-high heat. Cook pancetta until crisp, 4-5 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and cool. Brush the baked pizza crust with some of the grease from the skillet you cooked the pancetta in for a little extra flavor. Add beaten egg yolks, ricotta, Romano, grated garlic and black pepper to a bowl and stir to combine.
Spread the ricotta cheese mixture out over the pizza crust, then top with provolone cheese.
Scatter the reserved pancetta all over and bake 12 minutes or until crust is crisp and the cheese is evenly golden on top. Scatter parsley over cooked pizza, cut into wedges and serve.
