Kayak Kids

Kayaking has become one of our favorite family activities.

Bathing the Cat

Cute little Tiny was actually fairly calm during her flea bath. These pictures were funny looking. Fun kitty.

Happy Birthday to Me!

I recently celebrated my birthday and what a wonderful birthday it was. I received so many Happy Birthday phone calls from family and it was a special day.

No this is not me - it's my wonderful friend Melissa. Isn't she beautiful!?! I didn't get a picture with her but she was very sweet and brought me cupcakes and a balloon for my birthday.

Daniel and my in-laws must think I need some exercise. :) Apparently they want me to take up hiking because Dan bought me hiking boots and his parents bought me hiking sticks. They all really enjoy hiking so they are sweet to share this love with me. I'll have to go hiking with Daniel sometime soon! Micah just had to stand and pose next to me in this picture - so cute!

The night of my birthday we went to my favorite restaurant - The Olive Garden! Yum! My mom, my brothers, and my Aunt Karina celebrated with us. Karina gave me a beautiful necklace of a silver angel with my birthstone in the middle. So precious!

Yes, I am 29 this year. The last year in my twenties - I'd better live it up! Everybody surprised me with a cake at the restaurant! Lea and Jonah helped me to blow out the candles.

The next morning was Saturday and a good day for Daniel to make me breakfast in bed! It was DELICIOUS! Saturday night, after the concert at church, Dan took me to Fenton's - I LOVED IT - and to a movie. Thanks for a great birthday!

Aleena On My Own

So Saturday morning I got a call from a Sister in our ward asking if Aleena was planning on singing in our Ward's concert that evening. I was pretty sure that she wasn't as I would have thought she would have been practicing and thus I would have been babysitting the week or two leading up to that evening. Her birthday was the day prior, I was making breakfast for her and she was still sleeping, so I told the Sister that she would call her back. Later, after her B-day breakfast, Aleena said she was not aware that the concert was that evening, had not practiced. What was going to be a duet turned in to a solo as her partner was not able to come. I suggested she sing "On My Own", a song I have loved, loved, loved, since I was in 7th grade, from Les Miserables. She was able to get a hold of an outstanding pianist who learned the piece as they ran through it twice, minutes before the concert. So, yeah, I am bragging, but I am her husband, and I get to. She has an amazing talent and I am grateful she gets to share it with us. My recorder is poor, and Micah, my son, was very vocal, but the essence of her tone is in there.

Family Camping Trip

Last weekend we went camping at Gualala River Redwood Park with my mom and sister. We had a lot of fun. Gotta love the campfire - roasting marshmallows - and Lea and Jonah loved their Aunt Cheryl telling them scary stories and funny ones, by the campfire.

This year we even tried dutch oven cooking - it was pretty good!

We spent a lot of time on the river and of course we had fun kayaking!
