Alcatraz

About a month ago Daniel and I went to see Alcatraz. As long as we and especially I have lived here this was a first and we had fun exploring this tourist attraction.
These first pictures were taken from the ferry on our way to the island of Alcatraz.

It is a shame that when the American Indians took over Alcatraz for a little over a year they defaced and destroyed many of the buildings there.

Typical cells of Alcatraz.

The views from Alcatraz are AMAZING!
The lighthouse.

There were only three men who successfully escaped from Alcatraz while inmates there. They dug a hole behind the cell wall with a spoon over many months until they reached the crawl space where the pipes were. Then they made a raft and paddles and they were never found again. They had made dummies of themselves to put in their beds to fool the guards and give them time to get away.

Here is the info on the "Indian Invasion".

Even though I was sick I very much enjoyed spending this day with my husband and learning the fascinating things about Alcatraz.

Basketball

This year Jonah played basketball for the first time. He enjoyed it and it was fun watching him play.

Number 10 has been Jonah's number for every year of organized sports he has played.

Micah loved to watch his big brother.

Kings vs. Jazz

Daniel and I had a blast with floor seats at the Kings vs. Jazz game. We went with David and Kara and it was a great night.

We cheered on the Jazz, but as BYU fans we did root for Jimmer for the quarter he was in the game.

Our new camera is fun and we took multiple shots of plays. Above is a fun series of Jimmer.

It was a fun night of basketball.

Birthday Surprise

Surprise! A bunch of us girls surprised our friend Anissa with a birthday breakfast! She thought she was going to breakfast with one friend (Tammy) but she was surprised when there were about 10 of us waiting for her at the restaurant. Fun!

Micah got a Mickey Mouse happy face pancake and he dug right into the whipped cream!

Date in San Fransisco

Ice Cream on the pier.

We also rode in a water taxi around the bay.

It was very fun.

The Great Outdoors

The kids had a fun President's Day in the outdoors this year. Lea and Jonah explored and hiked in Rockville Park with their buddies Hunter and Hayden. They were with their grandma guides and they had a blast.

While the big kids were on their hike, I took Micah on a walk to where a couple of horses live. We brought along celery and apples to feed them with. It was a lot of fun! Micah LOVED interacting with the beautiful horses!
